Meet the animals

The majority of our animals have been hand reared or hatched here on the farm. All our students will have hands on experience with all our animals and take part in incubating and hatching eggs and hand rearing lambs (spring/summer terms only).

All our animals are named after famous scientists, take a look.

Rutherford

Herschel

(Caroline Herschel 1750 – 1848)

Crick and Watson

(Francis Crick 1916 – 2004 and James Watson 1928 – to date)

Bell, Hubble and Dolly

(Alexander Graham Bell 1847 – 1922, Edwin Hubble 1889 – 1953 and Dolly – named after the first cloned sheep 1996)

Kepler and Faraday

(Johannes Kepler 1571 – 1630 and Michael Faraday 1791 – 1867)

Nettie and Mary

( Nettie Stevens 1861 – 1912 and Mary Anning 1799 – 1847)

Einstein and Newton

(Albert Einstein 1879 – 1955 and Sir Isaac Newton 1643 – 1727)

Melody

(Melody arrived at the farm at the age of 26 so we kept her original name. We call her ‘Mel’ after ‘Melittology’ – the study of bees)
